Every year on the first Saturday of December, the William Lowell Putnam Competition takes place and is administered by the Mathematical Association of America. Students are given two three hours sessions with 6 questions in each session. Each question is to be answered with a mathematical proof of the solution and is worth 10 points for a maximum score on the test of 120 points. The typical score for a participant is 0 out of 120, so do not be afraid of trying the test! There's nothing to lose and previous participants at FIU agree that the test is a fun way to test your knowledge.

Each fall semester, the Math Club holds training sessions for students interested in taking the examination. Notable results by FIU teams and students:
